Bloke, start to finish, on every job
A boss welded into a fabricated arm. The colour in the metal is the heat going in, and the even stack of beads is what you are paying for.
What I do
It is one shop, one set of hands and one standard. Whether it is a header for a race car or a set of bushes for a trailer, the same person quotes it, makes it and hands it back.
Headers, collectors and full exhaust systems made from scratch to suit the car, not the catalogue. Pie cut bends, merge collectors, stainless and mild steel.
Lathe and machining work on bushes, spigots, hubs, sprockets and one off parts. Faces skimmed, bores opened up, threads cut, parts made to fit what you already have.
TIG and general fabrication in steel, stainless and alloy. Brackets, mounts, frames and small batch runs, welded properly and finished so they look like they belong.
Worn bushes pressed out and new bronze ones made and fitted. Trailer hoist feet, suspension arms, pivots and anything else that has worn oval and needs to be right again.
The jobs that do not fit anywhere else. Stairs, frames, guards, plant repairs and the odd one off that nobody else wants to take on.
Work that has to be done now, and work that nobody has a part number for. A local road marking contractor calls it "jobs that are both urgent, and out of the ordinary".

Who I do it for
A lot of the work is automotive, because that is where a shop like this starts. But the same lathe and the same welder fix a contractor's machine on a Tuesday morning.
A road marking rig belonging to J & M Road Marking Specialists, who call BS Engineering their go to for the jobs nobody has a part number for.

The shop
BS Engineering has been running out of Cessnock since 2018. It is Ben, on his own, doing custom headers, exhaust work, machining and general engineering for people across the Hunter Valley.
That means the person who takes your call is the person who does the job. Nothing gets handed down a line, nothing gets quoted by somebody who has not seen the part. If a job is not worth doing properly, you get told that too.
The work runs from a set of headers for a speedway car through to a contractor's machine that has to be back on site tomorrow. One customer has been bringing race car work here for five years. Another rang about a motorbike part and a dog trailer in the same week.
